Program & Services
The Women, Infants & Children (WIC) Program is a health and nutrition program that helps pregnant, breastfeeding and postpartum women, infants, and children (up to age five) eat well and stay healthy.
WIC Program Eligibility Requirements:
- Provide proof of Illinois residency
- Fall under one of these categories:
- Pregnant, breastfeeding, and post-partum women
- Infants
- Children up to age 5
- Meet the income guidelines and/or receive SNAP/TANF/Medicaid
A child may be certified by a parent, legal guardian, or caretaker.

WIC services available for qualifying participants include:
- Assessment of nutritional needs
- Nutrition counseling and a variety of learning opportunities
- An EBT card with monthly WIC Approved benefits
- Benefits vary depending on certification category
- Breastfeeding promotion and support
- Hemoglobin Testing
- Referral to Car Seat Check Ups by certified car seat technicians
- Linkage to other services offered by MCPHD, including lead testing, immunizations, dental care, behavioral health and more
- Linkage to external community partners such as Head Start, Early Intervention, food pantries, etc.
- WIC provides access to a variety of nutritious foods, including fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grains, breakfast cereals, milk, eggs, cheese, yogurt, beans, and peanut butter.

To file a program discrimination complaint, a Complainant should complete a Form AD-3027, USDA Program Discrimination Complaint Form which can be obtained online at: https://www.usda.gov/sites/default/files/documents/ad-3027.pdf, from any USDA office, by calling (866) 632-9992, or by writing a letter addressed to USDA. The letter must contain the complainant’s name, address, telephone number, as well as a written description of the alleged discriminatory action in sufficient detail to inform the Assistant Secretary for Civil Rights (ASCR) about the nature and date of an alleged civil rights violation. The completed AD-3027 form or letter must be submitted to USDA by:
